Welcome Back Breakthrough South!!!

As we return from summer break and are at the start of a new school year, this is always a great time for all of us to do some self-reflection and set intentions for the new school year for ourselves. For me, I have set two intentions for myself: to remember to have fun, & to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. This summer I definitely did this while I was in Minnesota visiting family & friends - I took a water aerobics class that was led by my high school friend Joanna (which was super fun) & I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried log rolling (which is a hobby of my high school friend Heidi)!

Our school theme for this new school year is

"Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead!" As you know, our main magnet school theme has already been (and continues to be) character education/SEL/leadership. However, over the past few years, we have been adding more S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) across the building. So this year, we are officially adding S.T.E.A.M. as a secondary magnet theme at Breakthrough South, which is super exciting!

For potential families who are looking at our school as a possible choice for the 25-26 school year, I would recommend that you schedule a time to come visit our school (believe it or not, the 25-26 school choice lottery will open in November/December of 2024). Then you can see first hand how we foster a school culture of support, care, and connection (and let's not forget FUN!) with our students and families to help everyone thrive and be the best person they can be!
