Mrs. Gustafson’s 5/6 class is collecting Pennies for Peace for their community service project this year. This program comes from the book, Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson, about a mountain climber from the U.S. who has built more than sixty schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Our class is reading this book for a read aloud this year. Since kicking off Pennies for Peace in September, we have collected $363.11 in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars!!!!! WOW! And we will continue to collect throughout the rest of the school year. Thanks to all the parents and students who have already contributed to help build more schools for children that are less fortunate than us!
