On Sept. 15, 2010 from 6:00-7:30 you are cordially invited to join our teachers and staff to attend Curriculum Night. During this evening you will have an opportunity to hear the state of the school address by our principal Norma Neumann Johnson. Additionally, you will be able to visit your child’s classroom, meet yours child’s teacher, learn about the exciting curriculum and ways that you can help support your child at home to have a successful year! Mark your calendars and don’t miss out!!
Reminder to all families that our Enrichment Programs do not begin until Sept. 20, 2010. This means that students will have 3:00 p.m. dismissal. Beginning Sept. 20 students in grades K-8 will be dismissed at 4:00 p.m. as our enrichment programs will begin.
All the staff is excited to see all of your children on the first day of school, in their school uniforms, which is August 30, 2010.
Our first Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010.
S.T.E.P.-Systematic Training for Effective Parenting- Parents that are looking to learn the discipline approach that we use at our school so that they are modeling and reinforcing these strategies at home, Mrs. Johnson will be offering this exciting course this fall. This program is offered for free and childcare is provided. The fall dates are 7 consecutive Tuesday evenings as follows: Sept. 21 and 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 22, 26, Nov. 2.
Please join us on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 4:30-6:00 p.m., in the play area, for our Back to School Family Picnic. All you need to bring is your blanket and own food. This will be a great time for teachers, families, and kids to reconnect before the commencement of the 2010-2011 school year.
Breakthrough 8th Graders are being promoted to 9th grade on Monday, June 7 at 10:00. Though the ceremony begins at 10:00, 8th graders must be ready in the Music room no later than 9:30. A luncheon for 8th graders and their families will immediately follow. The Middle School would like to thank the BMS School Store, BMS Coffee Shop, and BMS PTO for their support.
The Community Meeting scheduled for Friday, April 23 has been postponed. The program scheduled for Friday will be held next Friday, April 30 at 8:45.
Breakthrough Magnet School will be closed for Spring Recess from Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2. School reopens on Monday, April 5 at 8:05.
